Already?!
Yes! I did already finish writing the second novel that I started back in April this year. It’s crazy that it took me a little less than two months to write this whole thing. It’s frankly insane! I can’t believe I did it!
So how did I do it? Well, I think it really helped that this was fantasy, and I’ve actually spent a lot of time thinking about this novel. It’s been something I’ve been thinking about since high school, so it’s been quite a while. I suppose I just had every part of this in my head, so it was time to get this out on paper.
Well, not all of it was in my head. In fact, there were still a few things that came out and surprised me! Not any major twists, but characters who changed slightly in personality or style, or certain thoughts they had. In fact, writing this out I realized that what I’d planned for in the future would have to change majorly. Oh yeah, I haven’t told you guys this, but this is part of a planned trilogy. Will I ever write all three books? Well, I honestly don’t know. This is the first time I’ve ever written a first novel in any sort of series. Do you guys have any suggestions? Would you recommend writing the next books? I’ve heard waiting is best before writing them all, but let me know!
But, for now, I’m taking a break from this book. One month of letting it just hang out and sit before grabbing it and beginning to rewrite it, molding it into something better. While writing it I had so many realizations, so I want to make sure I integrate more details on the world into the story. So there’s a lot of work left to do on it, but, for now, it’s going to sit on my bedside table before I launch into the revisions.
I won’t let my mind be idle, though. I still have an outline for a YA fiction novel to work on this year! I figure I’ll take this month to do that before doing the revisions. And then, I’ll go back to it.
For now, I’m just so proud to say that I’ve been able to write two novels so far, one last year and one this year. I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress as a hopeful writer, mostly in learning to make time for my craft, and hopefully will continue improving my writing the more I write!
So, any advice on writing trilogies, or series in general? Any advice before I start my revisions? Let me know in the comments!
Congrats!!! 🙂

Hello Steph!!! Wow congrats on finishing your novel! That’s a huge accomplishment and it’s amazing that you were able to do this in 2 months!
I’ve never written a series so I don’t have any advice in this regard, but I’d say go for it if it is what your heart is telling you to do. It’s a great idea in general to wait for a while and give your mind a chance to “forget” your novel so you can look at it with fresh eyes when it is time for revisions. Also, I would suggest to let someone (or a few people) read your novel before you start revisions. From my experience, my beta-readers were always able to give me good feedback. There were some things that I disliked and thought I would have to rewrite for sure that my beta-readers didn’t mind. There were also things that I didn’t realize I had to fix 🙂 Good luck and happy writing!!

Hi, Sophie! Thanks for the great advice! Yeah, I’m thinking I might give it to some beta readers after polishing it up a bit more. My poor readers are still working on reading my first one so I might want to give them a little while before forcing them to read this one 😛
Thanks so much! And good luck with your own writing!
